About This Blog

What brought me to this topic? Well, by my own standards, I felt like I was starting to get fat. A little bit too much of the good life for a little too long. Sound like anyone else? I think it’s easy to fall into bad habits and routines in this busy world we live in. It can be hard to make time to exercise your body when we’re so busy exercising our minds into exhaustion.

About 8 weeks ago, I set out to become healthier.

I wanted to find exercises that were going to make me better at being human, ie. endurance, overall activity levels, blood-pressure, heart rate. I don’t want to go to a gym and deal with the egocentricity that permeates from the barbells, dumbbells, and walls of mirrors.

I think this is a common feeling, too. Gyms are overwhelming, especially when you’re just getting started. The problem is needing to start somewhere and I imagine, for some, that the idea of having this place to go workout actually can have a drawing effect towards the gym. We won't be talking about gyms, though. We'll be looking at alternatives to that tradition. I will not be talking about bench-pressing, squatting, dead-lifts – nothing about traditional weight lighting.

Things that I want to continue to explore in later posts are how to achieve a beneficial workout in economic ways and through unconventional methods, but that help us achieve a physique that makes existing easier and less painful.

We’ll be discussing kettlebells, weighted-pack walking, jumping rope, and various body-weight exercises.

As they say, "Let’s get ready to rumble," folks.

  1. Great Idea! I don't have time to go to the gym. I work full-time, go to school part-time and have a family. What costs would someone have by working out at home? I love the idea of running, however when I actually get out there, I hate it! I look forward to reading your ideas and suggestions for alternative workouts.

  2. Amen brother, I had a great workout regimen going for months and all it took was a change in my schedule and it all fell apart. I cannot wait to see more on this subject, cause I need help. I really enjoy calisthenics but find myself running out of new methods and sometimes it gets stale. So I would say I would be most interested in discovering a wide variety of these techniques.

  3. I am loving your blog already! I think it's relatable to a lot of people and you slipped in some humor as well which makes me want to keep reading. Especially being college students, I think people find it hard to make time to go to the gym. So learning how to fit in physical fitness at home when it's more convenient would be ideal for many people if they just had the tools. I'm curious to see how you will explain different work outs you can do outside of the gym. Will you need equipment? How long will these work outs take? I'm looking forward to what you have to say!

  4. I just absolutely love this blog, so it was no question on whether or not I should follow it. I agree with you on the fat part. A few years ago, I actually noticed the same exact thing about myself. It is a realization that really sucks to come to about yourself, but it is really needed. I'm so excited to see where this blog goes and how it can help me in my continuous battle against that scale.
